How old is this website?
Domain Age Checker
Reads the registration record and tells you when a domain was registered, to the day, and when it expires.
We fetch the page for you. Our server fetches the public address you enter and reads the response. Nothing you enter is stored. Free, no account.
How it works
You need to know how old a domain is. Maybe you are buying one, or checking a competitor's. This tool reads the registration record and shows the creation date to the day, the expiry date, the registrar, the status codes and the name servers, plus an archive capture closest to January 1996. That is not necessarily the first capture.
- 1
We ask the registry itself through RDAP, the system that replaced WHOIS, and fall back to the registry's WHOIS server for endings that do not offer RDAP yet.
- 2
You get the creation, expiry and last-change dates, the registrar, the status codes, the name servers and whether DNSSEC is on.
- 3
We also ask for an archive capture closest to January 1996, not a guaranteed first capture. An older capture establishes earlier site history, not whether the domain was re-registered.
What it does not do
Some country registries (for example .de) do not publish registration dates. The tool says so instead of guessing.
Owner names are not shown: registries hide them for privacy.
When a source is busy or a site does not answer, this tool says so. It never fills the gap with a guess.
Questions
Why does the domain age not match when the site launched?
The site can be newer than the domain. A domain can sit unused, or change hands. The tool also asks for a capture closest to January 1996, not necessarily the first capture. If that copy predates the current registration record, the domain has earlier history. Re-registration or registry-data changes may explain it; the archive alone does not prove which.
Why does a .de domain show no registration date?
Some country registries do not publish registration dates, and .de is one of them. The tool says so rather than guessing. You still get what the registry does publish, such as the status codes and name servers. For a date the registry withholds, the registrar that manages the domain is the next place to ask.
Can I see who owns the domain?
No. Registries hide owner names for privacy, and this tool does not show them. If you need the owner, the usual routes are a contact form on the site, the registrar's own lookup, or a legal request to the registrar. For most checks the creation date, the status codes and the name servers tell you what you need.
